Although this walk is titled Stanbury to Bude,
we walked from Bude to Stanbury; so that's how it's being described.
For this walk, you need OS Landranger 190, Bude and Clovelly.
Severity of walk
The Bude Canal is a wonderful place to walk alongside,
it's nice to just follow the Canal to the A39, then walk straight across
the road and continue on to Marhamchurch: A lovely little village with
a very nice Pub. Bude itself is a very pleasant town and is well worth
a second look when you've finished this walk. You also have the opportunity
to see the radar station at first hand: Not a pleasant sight.
Park the first car at Stanbury Mouth, grid reference SS 203 134
To get there, drive northwards along the A39, through Kilkhampton, until
you reach Crimp. Turn left at the signpost to Morwenstow and Shop, follow
this road to the end, when you will reach a crossroads. Go straight across,
then past a farm, after which the road degenerates into a rough lane.
Soon afterwards you will see an area to park your car.
Park the second car at Bude, in the car park by the Canal, grid refernce
SS 208 061
Retrace your steps back to the A39, then head south through Kilkhampton
and Stratton before turning off on the A3072. Continue past the school,
then turn right towards the town centre, turning left at the river. You
should then see the car park on your left.
