Leaving the car park at Bude, walk across the road keeping the canal
on your left. Now head to the right, following the Coastpath signs towards
Crooklets Beach.You'll find a long, steady climb out of Bude with fine
views of the coastline behind; an easy descent into Northcott Mouth
past a cafe (closed when we were there), then a short, steepish climb
to a low plateau. Next you find Sandy Mouth with a steep climb leading
to Stowe Cliff. Afterwards, a long steep descent brings you to Duckpool,
which also has a long, steep ascent on the other side! Next you find
the tracking station with its host of security cameras: We found this
all rather depressing and were glad to follow the path to Lower Sharpnose
Point and the long very steep descent to Stanbury Mouth. from there,
a slow stroll up to the car park at the top of the lane. See Welcombe
