A very nice walk along Lantic bay to Polruan, across to Fowey then to
Gribbin Head then around to St Austell Bay and Polkerris
For this walk, you need OS Landranger 200, Newquay & Bodmin
Severity of walk
Although the car park is not easy to find, it's
well worth the effort, as the scenery is very dramatic along this part
of the coast.
Following the sweep of Lantic Bay, you cross
from Polruan to Fowey, then through Readymoney Cove, past St Catherines
Castle and Coombe Haven to Polridmouth; a lovely beach with a nicely sited
house next to a small lake. After this, a sharp and steep climb to Gribbin
Head followed by a level (almost) walk to Polkerris

Take the A3082 from Par to Fowey. After passing the old almshouses,
the road is uphill: At the top of the hill on the right is the turning
to Menabilly and Polkerris. After a short distance is a right turn to
Polkerris; drive carefully down the hill (it's narrow) and watch out for
the car park on the right. Depending on the time of year, you may have
to pay.
Drive back to the main road and turn right towards Fowey. At the roundabout,
drive straight ahead.
Park the second car in the car park, grid reference SX 148 514
Driving towards Fowey, take the Bodinnick Ferry. Out of Bodinnick,
take the second right, signposted Whitecross. Follow downhill, at the
bottom, turn sharp right at a group of buildings; drive carefully (very
narrow) through Pont then up steep hill (sharp bend) watch out for left
turn sign, turn is sharp left after bend. Follow past Lanteglos Church,
watch out for car park on left when you see the main road in front.
