A very nice little walk, passing Soapy Cove and
Kynance Cove to finish at the most southerly point in mainland Britain.
For this walk, you need OS Landranger 203, Lands End.
Severity of walk
This walk takes you past the old workings at Soapy
Cove; where soapstone was quarried and carved. At times a strange landscape,
you can see plants not found anywhere else in Britain. Kynance Cove is
renowned for its beauty and the serpentine found nearby.
Park the first car (free) on the green, grid reference SW 703 126
Take the A3083 from Helston to Lizard village and you'll see the Green
on the right-hand side as you get to the village. Toilets available
Park the second car at Predannack: Grid reference SW 668 161
Drive back from Lizard village towards Helston, taking the B3296 signposted
to Mullion. Go through Mullion, keeping left towards Mullion Cove; you'll
see the lane you want over on the left as you go down a shallow hill;
watch out for the turning just before a left-hand bend. Follow this lane
for quite a long way, eventually ending up at a National Trust farm, Predannack
Woolas. Park in the designated car-park; put some money in the box towards
upkeep, please.
