Newquay Headland to Holywell Bay

Actually, it's Holywell Bay to Newquay Headland!

An easy walk between these two holiday destinations, taking in Porth Joke, Crantock Beach, Pentire and the world-famous Fistral Beach.

For this walk, you need OS Landranger 200, Newquay & Bodmin.

Severity of walk

This is a good walk if you're not feeling too energetic, but want to get out there! Once you've climbed out of Holwell Bay, there aren't too many steep climbs or descents - and the views are first-class.

Park the first car in the car park at The Headland, grid reference SX 801 627

Head towards Fistral from anywhere in Newquay. As you approach the beach, you'll see a small turning on your right: Take this and park just past the old lifeboat station.

Park the second car in the car park at Holywell Bay, grid reference SX 767 587

From The Headland, drive back along the Gannel link road to Trevemper and follow the A307 towards Redruth. You'll pass two turnings to the right, towards Crantock, but you need the third right, signposted Cubert and Holywell Bay (there's also signs for the "Fun" Park). Follow this road all the way to the end: Through Cubert, past the Fun Park, the Pub (thatched roof etc) and then the road bears left towards Penhale Camp...the car park is on your left-hand side.
